Co-curricular Activities

  • Department of Respiratory Medicine conducted “DPU Pulmonary Update- 2016”on 1st & 2nd October 2016. The “Sleep Medicine workshop” was conducted on 1st October 2016 by Dr. M. S. Barthwal & Dr. Raja Yarra Ramakrishanan who has 16 years experience in Sleep Medicine. The workshop was attended by 40 delegates & was highly appreciated.
    The CME started with a intercollege quiz competition.
    1st Prize-Trophy & cash prize of 10,000/- won by AFMC.
    2nd Prize- Trophy & cash prize of 5,000/- won by KEM Hospital.
  • The CME was conducted by eminent speakers of national repute including HOD’s Pulmonary Medicine Department of AIIMS & PGI. The CME was attended by 160 delegates. The dignitaries from AIIMS & PGI visited the new hospital complex & were highly impressed. HOD PGI Chandigarh mentioned in visitor’s book that why government set up cannot be like this.
  • The department of Microbiology & department of Respiratory Medicine jointly conducted a Integrated teaching programme topic “Molecular diagnosis in TB” on 2nd February 2016 from 2pm to 4pm at Microbiology Department.
  • Fibrotic Bronchoscopy Handling & Maintaince workshop was conducted on 13 December 2015 from 9am to 2 pm in the department of Respiratory Medicine. The workshop was conducted by senior technical officer from Olympus, Bombay. The aim of the workshop was to familiarize residents & junior faculty about the intricate components of bronchoscope, its handling cleaning, disinfection & sterilization.
  • Respiratory health check up camp for Security Staff was conducted at D. Y. Patil Medical college campus on 23rd-24th January 2013. Following students provided their services and expertise– Dr. Tinku Joseph, Dr. Ashish Gupta, Dr. Amit Dave.
  • Respiratory health check up camp for Construction workers was conducted at D. Y. Patil Medical college campus on 9th-10thJanuary 2013. Following students provided their services and expertise– Dr. Tinku Joseph, Dr. Ashish Gupta, Dr. Amit Dave.
  • Respiratory health check up camp for Auto rickshaw drivers was conducted at Rickshaw stand near YCM hospital in August 2012. Following students provided their services and expertise–Dr. Ashish Gupta, Dr. Prashant Singh
  • On world TB day: 24th March 2012 we conducted poster competition in association with RNTCP Pimpri Branch. The title for poster competition was ‘STOP TB’
  • Dr. Tinku Joseph (CR-Department of Respiratory Medicine) won first prize & Mridul Dua (Final year MBBS student) Won second prize
  • The department of Respiratory Medicine conducted a full day workshop for PG residents on 2nd July 2011 Saturday between 9 am to 5 pm at our college auditorium. The workshop is on: “PATIENT MANAGEMENT SKILLS AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT”.
  • An Asthma camp was conducted at Pimpri by the Respiratory Medicine department on 22nd March 2011 with the help of “Rajmudra Pratishthan”. Following PG students took lots of efforts for the camp: Dr. Vikas Oswal, Dr. Anishkumar Khan, and Dr. Vipul Kalley.
  • An Asthma and COPD camp was conducted at Savitribai Phule Kendra near Thakare Ground, Yamunanagar, Nigdi, by the Respiratory Medicine department on 24th March 2011. Following students provided their services and expertise- Dr. Vikas Oswal, Dr. Anishkumar Khan and Dr. Vipul Kalley.
  • A Traffic police respiratory health check up camp was organized by our department on 12th May 2011 at Pimpri-Bhosari Traffic police station. Dr. Anish Khan, and Dr. Madhur Joshi provided their services and expertise.

Extra-curricular Activities

  • Dr. Vipul Kalley won 1st prize in doubles Badminton competition(2011-2012) conducted by D. Y. Patil University.
  • Dr. Tushar Sashrabudhe won 2nd prize in Badminton competition conducted by Medical council PCMC chapter.

Medico-Social Activities

  1. Poster competition on the theme of “Green Diwali” done on 20 October 2014 in collaboration with College of Nursing Street play organized on the same occasion.
  2. World TB Day, 24th March 2015 was celebrated and Street play organized on the same occasion.
  3. Lecture on “What is the Risk of TB for Health Care Workers” by Dr. Tushar Sahasrabudhe at 2:00 pm at the college auditorium
  4. World No Tobacco Day, 1st June 2015 was celebrated.
  5. On the event of World TB Day (22nd March 2016) Department of Respiratory Medicine arranged a poster display in OPD complex for educating patients regarding Tuberculosis. The importance of DOTS in Pulmonary Tuberculosis was conveyed through a play in the OPD complex. The play enacted by Dr. Sudhir Dahitankar, TB Health Visitor Hanumant & Lab technician Preeti. Dr. M. S. Barthwal, Professor & HOD was invited as a speaker in CME at YCM Hospital on 22nd March 2016. He spoke on the topic of “Pitfalls in the management of Tuberculosis.” The same talk was also arranged for faculty & residents in college auditorium on 23rd March 2016.
  6. Lung health evaluation week was conducted from 14-19 December 2015 in the department of Respiratory Medicine. The aim of this diagnose screening was to asymptomatic patients of COPD & undiagnosed asthma cases.
