Dr. D. Y. Patil Hi- Tech Hospital & Research Centre is a multispecialty Hospital and a Centre of Excellence. Established in 1996, Dr. D. Y. Patil Hi- Tech Hospital & Research Centre is built in an area covering 7, 25,000 sq. ft. It is one of Maharashtra’s largest state-of-the- art Hospital and Research Center with latest facilities and services. The main mission of the Hospital is to make healthcare available to the masses. Written paper - 60 marks.
Personal Interview - 40 marks.
The written paper will consist of mix up of spots, cases and objective questions. This will be followed by a personal interview of the student that will be taken by 3 persons.
Results will be announced after a week.

Facilities at the Hospital
- It has 61 wards with 1550 beds dedicated to different specialties.

- All the 17 operating OPDs are spacious and have 4-8 examination rooms for the use of the various departments. These rooms are equipped with latest diagnostic equipment’s of global standards and are upgraded from time to time.
The Department of Radiology
Established in 2000, the Department of Radiology at Dr. D. Y Patil Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Pune performs all forms of diagnostic and interventional radiological procedures including sophisticated vascular and neuro-interventional procedures. In fact, it provides a full range of radiological services related to MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Dexa, X-Rays and intervention procedures. The Department has technologically advanced state-of-the-art medical equipment in the endeavor to provide the best diagnostic output. It also consists of highly skilled technicians and radiologists who are dedicated to providing 24X7 patient care.
The Department has a very active teaching schedule for residents besides conducting refresher courses; it also provides an opportunity for Observer ship for those from other departments and elsewhere in the state and country. It boasts one of the best libraries in the country and an exhaustive film and electronic teaching media library. The Department is also actively involved in pushing boundaries in the world of radiology and imaging through various research activities.
The Department, in addition to being recognized for excellence in the routine evaluation of patients with common sports injuries, the Musculoskeletal Imaging Section is also recognized nationally and internationally for specialized diagnostic imaging studies and interventional procedures. The Fellowship programme has been on for the last 3 years.
About the Fellowship
The musculoskeletal imaging section of the Radiology Department at DPU offers one of the most comprehensive Musculoskeletal Fellowship Programmes available in the country.
The main focus of the Programme is to impart exclusive clinical training in CT, ultrasound, MR imaging and intervention in musculoskeletal-related pathology.
Fellow Rotations
Our MSK fellows typically rotate through one of three clinical rotations, one week at a time. Fellows are allotted one academic day per week, which can be used in a variety of different ways including work on current research projects, preparation of weekly internal and interdisciplinary conferences, and observing surgery under the guidance of our colleagues in the department of Orthopedics.

Clinical Responsibilities
- Protocoling, monitoring and interpreting CT and MR imaging studies under faculty supervision.
- Protocoling and performing patient procedures, including arthrography, therapeutic and diagnostic injections, ultrasound, and CT guided biopsies under faculty supervision.
- Preparing interdisciplinary conferences.
- Consulting with referring physicians.
- Effectively communicating study results by timely signing of reports and appropriate direct communication.
- Participating in interdepartmental research.
Scope of the Programme
The programme offers an opportunity to complement sub specialisation training in musculoskeletal radiology. The trainee will be provided with intense modular training and will be supervised by a specialized tutor in the highly esteemed, academic training centre at the Radiology Department of DPU. During the time, they will learn to review and interpret radiography, USG, MRI and CT studies under direct faculty supervision. Students will also be taught to conduct routine follow-up of cases reported and correlate with operative findings and further course of treatment and also to perform methodical clinical research. Students will have to rotate in all the modalities in MSK radiology on a pre-decided time table. They are expected to attend weekly lectures given by mentors and weekly / monthly multidisciplinary conferences at the hospital. Students also need to present paper/poster/ relevant research tool in as many academic programmes and conferences at local, state, national and international events as possible during the tenure.
How to Apply
Fellows must have completed an MD/DNB approved (or equivalent) residency training programme in diagnostic radiology and should be Indian board-certified or eligible.
Trainees who have completed an approved (or equivalent) residency training program in Diagnostic Radiology preferred.

MRI: Siemens VIDA 3 T in Dr. D Y Patil Hospital & Research Centre is presumably the first in South East Asia. The sophisticated scanner is used for performing high resolution MS Imaging and advanced scan including MRI neurography and Cartilage Mapping. 1. 5 Tesla Siemens Avanto is also used for MSK Imaging.
CT: 3 CT scans to do various cross-sectional imaging and procedures.
128 slice Philips Ingenuity, 16 Slice Siemens Scope and a multi-slice from GE gives the agility with 3 dedicated Intellispace workstations.
Ultrasound and Doppler:The high-end scanners are equipped with THI, Panoramic views and high-frequency transducers to do dedicate MSK Ultrasound of large and small joints. The hospital has 11 ultrasound scanners.
Radiography – The 10 X - ray units used for various procedures, include 4 full DR systems, ranging from 300 to 800 mAs with IITV.
