RAPID DETECTION BY IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE MICROSCOPE

National programmes being carried out in the department

ICTC :- Prevention of Parent To Child Transmission of HIV (PPTCT) is a programme of MSACS with UNICEF. Dept of Microbiology carries out the serological part of the programme.One staff member is a qualified Trainer in this programme. We are also involved in training process of the health personnel, as this programme is now being extended up to primary health care centers. ICTC- Integrated Counselling and testing center.

RNTCP:-Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme. The microscopy and sputum smear reporting is carried out in the Microbiology Dept.

Genexpert (CBNAAT, detects DNA) for M.tuberculosis with Rifampicin sensitivity. Results available within 3 hrs.
